As a beginning teacher, I did not realize that the use of technology needed to be purposeful. Yes, students love technology and it makes class more engaging for them. However, I quickly found out that I was putting computers in the hands of my students with very little educational purpose. Since then, and with the help of this graduate program, I have learned that technology has many educational benefits for students, especially when used appropriately. This section will discuss some of the technology tools I have utilized in my classroom with the purpose of encouraging students to gain 21st century skills. Section 2, "Global Insights," will go into specific instances of student awareness of global issues.
